Dear Michelle,
I am hoping that you might remember my friend JoAnne and myself from our visit to your bookstore on May 3rd -- a couple of Canadian gals looking for books with the local Charleston flavor. We wanted to tell you just how much we appreciated our visit to your store and all the great leads you gave us for places to visit, places to eat, and great books. We had a fabulous lunch at Woodlands Inn and thoroughly enjoyed investigating the shops in Summerville. We only wish we had more hours to spend there, but had to watch the clock to pick up our husbands after their golf game. Our husbands loved the Pine Forest Golf Club and played 4 rounds there
throughout the week. We all agreed that we met the friendliest people in Summerville. While the men golfed, JoAnne and I toured Mt. Pleasant and Sullivan's Island one day and historic Charleston another. These excursions were made all the more pleasurable by your book recommendations of "Sullivan's Island" and "Tiles and Tribulations". I can't wait to dig into another one of your
recommendations, "Cold Mountain".
JoAnne and I have reflected on how much we enjoyed our interaction with you. While in Mt. Pleasant, we headed to the big Barnes and Noble bookstore at the new Town Center and we both said at the same time that we liked your bookstore so much more because of your personal touch. In a big city you might find people impatient as they wait in line to be served, but, in your store the lady waiting behind us joined in the conversation and shared her ideas about things we might want to see and do and reminisced along with you about girl scout experiences. What a treat! Thank you once again for being one of the most memorable and pleasant people we met while vacationing in Charleston. This trip we really enjoyed so much more of the great Charleston culture than we would have just by sticking to our resort setting on Kiawah and sightseeing in Charleston's historic area.
I found a website called discovercharleston.com and much to my delight found your bookstore described perfectly - I couldn't wait to share that with JoAnne. I
thought, "I met Michelle, I petted the resident cat." But, damn, where was Richard Gere on May 3rd, 2003? We were wondering if you have a website or email address for your store so we might contact you in the future for book recommendations. I assure you that we will make your bookstore a mandatory stop on any future trips to the area.
Best Regards,
Marilyn Fogg
